BROCKTON – A man wanted for a 2019 murder and featured on the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section’s Top 10 Most Wanted list has been returned to Brockton to face charges, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Massachusetts State Police Colonel Christopher Mason have announced.

On December 13, 2019, at approximately 9:05 p.m., Brockton Police received a 911 call about the shooting of a male at 10 Shaw Road in Brockton. Brockton Police and emergency medical personnel responded and located a male victim in the driveway of the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was determined to be deceased on scene by EMS and identified as Marshawn A. Potts, 26, of Brockton.

On December 16, 2019, State Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Witchael Normil, 25, for the murder of Potts. Over the past year, Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police have been seeking to apprehend Normil, and last Wednesday, October 21, he was placed in custody by U.S. Marshals in the Dominican Republic. The following day, Normil was deported to New York where he was taken into custody as a Fugitive From Justice. Last Friday, Normil was arraigned on the Fugitive From Justice charge and waived extradition. Today, State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office returned to Brockton from New York with Normil in custody.

He is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in Brockton District Court.
