BROCKTON – A Plymouth man who attempted to be released on a COVID-19 motion has pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
Lyle Dorgan, 30, of Plymouth, pleaded guilty remotely today in Plymouth Superior Court to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class A Substance, Fentanyl. Judge C.J. Moriarty sentenced Dorgan to serve three to four years in State Prison.
In July and August of 2019, a Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team (MSP CINRET) investigation identified Lyle Dorgan, 30, as a person believed to be trafficking Fentanyl out of his Plymouth residence. MSP CINRET conducted an investigation which established that Dorgan would return to his home state of Connecticut to replenish his Fentanyl supply.
On August 28, 2019, State Police received information that Dorgan was going to Connecticut to re-up on his Fentanyl supply. State Police sought and obtained search warrants out of Plymouth District Court for both Dorgan’s vehicle and residence. State Police were able to track Dorgan from Connecticut back to Massachusetts and Dorgan was stopped by State Police in Middleboro. Dorgan was advised of the warrants and a search of his vehicle revealed a bag containing 19 Bundles containing 920 folds of Fentanyl, weighing approximately 20 grams, and an IPhone. State Police responded to execute a search warrant at Dorgan’s residence and recovered seven Suboxone strips and a digital scale disguised as a CD Case.
On April 8, 2020, Dorgan who was being held on $50,000 cash bail on the charge, filed a COVID-19 Motion for release. At a hearing, the Commonwealth opposed Dorgan’s release and Plymouth Superior Court Judge Moriarty denied the motion.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brian Fahy and investigated by Massachusetts State Police.
