BROCKTON – A Brockton man who struck and killed a woman has been indicted, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced today.

A Plymouth County grand jury today returned indictments charging John Medeiros, 30, of New Bedford with one count each of Operating Under the Influence of Marijuana, Motor Vehicle Manslaughter, Motor Vehicle Homicide, Operating Under the Influence of Marijuana, Motor Vehicle Homicide by Reckless Operation, and Resisting Arrest.

At approximately 3:17 p.m. on November 17, 2020, Brockton Police received several 911 calls for reports of a three-car crash at the intersection of Route 123 and Pearl Street. A Massachusetts State Police trooper was first on-scene, with Brockton Police and Fire responding shortly thereafter. First responders determined Kimberly Shirosky, 54, of West Bridgewater to be dead at the scene. A second driver of a Ford pickup truck declined medical treatment.

The investigation revealed and the indictments allege that a black Acura TX being operated by Medeiros, was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a red light in the intersection when he struck the motor vehicle being driven by Shirosky. Following the crash, Medeiros became disorderly with responding officers on scene.

Medeiros will be arraigned in Brockton Superior Court on the charges at a later date.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Russell Eonas and was investigated by Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office along with Brockton Police.
