BROCKTON – A man has pleaded not guilty to stabbing another man to death in Brockton, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
Today, 18-year-old Jayden Fernandez of Dorchester, pleaded not guilty to one count of First Degree Murder in the stabbing death of Kyre Ambrose, 19. Fernandez was ordered held without bail.
At approximately 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, Brockton Police received a 911 call from a resident reporting the stabbing of a male family member at 17 Foster Street. Brockton Police and emergency medical personnel responded and located a male suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim, later identified as Ambrose, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead of his injuries.
Brockton Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and an investigation commenced.
Investigators canvassed the area and reviewed surveillance video. Video from a gas station located near the Foster Street address, showed Fernandez, operating a gray sedan, stop to use a good samaritan’s cell phone.
As a result, they developed probable cause to arrest Fernandez. MSP troopers learned that Fernandez was being treated at Newton-Wellesley Hospital for a hand injury. Fernandez was located on the hospital property, sleeping in the same gray sedan captured on gas station surveillance, and he was taken into custody. Officers observed reddish brown stains the motor vehicle that Fernandez was found in.
Massachusetts State Police sought and obtained a search warrant for Fernandez’s residence in Dorchester where they located dark clothing, gloves, and a knife with reddish-brown stains on them.
Fernandez is next scheduled to appear in court on February 6th for a probable cause hearing.
The investigation is being conducted by the Massachusetts State Police Unit Assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and Brockton Police.
