PLYMOUTH – A Marshfield man was sentenced to jail for assaulting a female family member, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced today.
After a four-day trial, a jury deliberated two and a half hours before finding James Woods (DOB: 07/11/58) of Marshfield, guilty on June 21, 2019 of two counts of Assault and Battery/Household Family Member and one count of Assault. Late Tuesday, Plymouth Superior Court Judge Cornelius Moriarty sentenced Woods to serve two years in the House of Corrections committed to be followed by two years of Probation. Woods must also pay a $5,000 fine and upon his release, follow conditions that he attend anger management training, have no contact with the victim in the case and adhere to drug and alcohol screens.
Marshfield Police arrested Woods on January 11, 2018 at his home after he attacked a female family member, punching her several times about the face, neck and head.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jessica Elumba and Stephanie Mello and was investigated by Marshfield Police.
