Second Suspect Arrested For Brockton Homicide

BROCKTON – A second man has pleaded not guilty and been held without bail in connection with the fatal shooting of a Brockton man, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

On Friday at approximately 6:21 pm, Brockton Police received multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting at the Super 8 Motel in Brockton. Upon arrival, Brockton Police were directed to Room 212 where they discovered a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as 20 year-old Christopher Lascase of Brockton.

Brockton Police contacted Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. As a result of that investigation, State Police and Brockton Police on Sunday sought and received an arrest warrant for Dvante Bly-Mollenthiel, 22, of Brockton. He pleaded not guilty yesterday in Brockton District Court, to one count of Murder, and was held without bail.

As part of the active and ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting, police developed information that Valdir Rodrigues, 39, of Weymouth, allegedly participated in Friday’s shooting. Yesterday at 2:30 pm, Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police arrested Valdir Rodrigues, 39, in Weymouth, where he resides. Today, at his arraignment in Brockton District Court, Rodrigues pleaded not guilty to one count of Murder and was held without bail.
