Plympton Man Arrested And Charged With Rape

PLYMPTON – A Plympton man is facing several criminal charges, including r bape, in relation to a domestic violence incident this week, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Stephen Bresnahan, 34, is charged with Aggravated Rape, Strangulation or Suffocation, Witness Intimidation, Assault and Battery on a Household/Family Member, two counts of Drug Possession and a separate count of Drug Possession with Intent to Distribute.

            In the early morning hours of June 9, Plympton Police received a call from the Randolph Police Department stating a woman had reported being sexually assaulted at a residence on West Street in Plympton. The victim, who identified Bresnahan as the alleged assailant, sustained severe injuries during the assault and was transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation. Officers with the Plympton Police Department subsequently responded to the West Street address and placed Bresnahan under arrest. While in custody, Bresnahan started displaying symptoms of suspected drug use and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

            Today, Bresnahan was transported from the hospital to Plymouth District Court where he was arraigned on the charges. The Commonwealth moved for Bresnahan to be held on dangerousness, and a hearing was scheduled for June 17th.
