BROCKTON – Members of law enforcement continue their search for a man wanted in connection with a brazen daytime shooting inside a Brockton store that left one man dead, and another injured, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
Luis A. Soto, who turns 35-years-old today, is wanted in connection with a double shooting at a Brockton Dollar Tree store on January 31, 2023. Soto was a former employee of the Dollar Tree store where the shooting took place.
At approximately 1:27 p.m. on January 31, 2023, Brockton Police received a 911 call reporting gunshots heard inside the Dollar Tree store located at 999 North Montello Street. Upon arrival, Brockton Police and emergency medical personnel located two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. One man died as a result of his injuries. He was identified as Dongbin Pyon, 38, of East Boston. Soto fled the store after the shooting. His car was located abandoned in Newton in the days after the incident.
Brockton Police contacted Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. As a result of the investigation, police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Soto on February 1, 2023. The warrants charge Soto with Murder, Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Carrying Ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card.
Since that day, investigators have worked tirelessly to bring Soto to justice. The United States Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Soto.
