POSITION TITLE: Superior Court Paralegal STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Second Assistant District Attorneys SUPERVISES: N/A
SALARY: $50,000-$54,000
SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Second Assistant District Attorneys, the paralegal will provide support to the Assistant District Attorneys in the Superior Court and throughout the office. The ADAs are responsible for the investigation and prosecution of all criminal matters that fall within the final jurisdiction of the Plymouth County Courts, compliance with discovery obligations and the Victim Bill of Rights, as well as responding to various motions and court filings, with which the paralegal will assist. The paralegal will be well versed in the applicable laws, rules, and regulations. This position involves extensive interaction with members of the public, including victims of crime, as well as courthouse personnel, members of the defense bar, and various law enforcement partners. The position will involve a wide range of responsibilities, to include administrative cross-training in many departments across the PCDAO.
KALIFIKASYON:
· Associates Degree in a related field, or paralegal certificate, or previous paralegal experience, preferably as a litigation paralegal; or the equivalent in education and experience
· Demonstrated commitment to public service; understanding of the criminal justice system and the role of the prosecutor
· Strong computer skills and ability to use and adapt to a variety of software programs.
· Applicant should have familiarity with Adobe Pro and Microsoft 365 programs.
· Demonstrates sound judgment and analytical skills
· Ability to perform general legal research and knowledge of legal terminology and principles.
· Ability to deal with sensitive, confidential, and sometimes graphic information.
· Applicant must display an extreme attention to detail and have superior time management and organizational skills when dealing with large amounts of data.
· Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete projects in a high volume, fast paced environment.
· Displays flexibility with workload and schedule in order to meet office needs
· Diplomacy in dealing with professionals and members of the public
· Ability to travel to and work at any one of the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office locations in Brockton, Plymouth, Wareham and Hingham
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and lift boxes up to 30 lbs.
· Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with fellow employees and other government agencies

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist with the collection, provision, and maintenance of discovery in criminal matters
· Track and maintain compliance with Rule 14 deadlines
· Coordinate with law enforcement agencies for the timely receipt of forms and materials
· Assist with digital evidence intake and management
· Assist in reviewing and redacting sensitive content
· Assist in preparing discovery packets for defense counsel
· Maintain electronic and physical case files, ensuring proper documentation of discovery exchanges
· Draft and edit court filings and internal memoranda
· Legal and investigative research
· Review, analyze, and summarize case materials.
· Provide session support before, during, and after court
· Assist ADAs with motion and trial preparation, including witness interviews and the creation of demonstrative aids and exhibits
· Assist ADAs at motion and trial as needed
· Keep track of various deadlines including, but not limited to, those related to research, writing, discovery and/or court filings, while prioritizing time sensitive matters
· Train in CJIS certification in order to run board of probation and out-of-state records
· Become familiar with, and follow, PCDAO personnel policies, particularly with regard to confidentiality, sexual harassment, drug-free workplace, and usage of information technology resources
· Become familiar with, and adhere to, the Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct
· Exercise respectful and professional behavior and communication with the public, judicial and law enforcement personnel, and office staff
· Complete work assignments in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
· Interface with other criminal justice agencies
· Attend meeting and trainings as required
· Collaborate with team members and assist with projects as required
· Maintain a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy
· Perform any other duty that may be requested by the District Attorney or his designees
