Brockton Man Pleads Not Guilty To Role In Shooting

BROCKTON – A Brockton man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he shot and seriously injured a female victim at an apartment over the weekend, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Today, Jonathan Pires Alves, 27, of Brockton, pleaded not guilty to A&B with Dangerous Weapon, Assault to Murder, A&B, Discharge Firearm Within 500ft of Building, Carry Firearm Without License, Carry Loaded Firearm Without License, and Firearm Violation With 1 Prior Violent/Drug Crime. He was held without bail pending a hearing on dangerousness.

At approximately 1:42 a.m. yesterday, Brockton Police received a 911 call for a report of gunshots heard in the area of 31 Falconer Avenue. Upon arrival, Brockton Polce located a female victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The 31 year-old victim was transported to Boston Medical Center for treatment of her injury.

Brockton Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and an investigation commenced. As a result of information obtained as part of the investigation, police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Alves and he was taken into custody.

He is next scheduled to appear in court on June 6.
