At 11:21 pm, State Police located the black Infinity in the area of 294 Arthur Paquin Way and operator, 20-year-old Igor Vieira of Brockton. As officers approached to speak to Vieira, he fled on foot into the woods, jumping a chain link fence before officers apprehended him. Officers searched Vieira and located a large plastic bag that contained approximately 62 grams of suspected Fentanyl, 80 plastic twists of Cocaine, 29 Xanax pills, packaging materials and two digital scales.
Vieira was placed under arrest and is scheduled to be arraigned in Brockton

In a separate incident also on Wednesday, State Troopers assigned to the
Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotic Reduction Enforcement
Team (CINRET), along with State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, members of the US Department of Homeland Security and Brockton Police arrested a man who allegedly ordered Fentanyl through the mail.
On July 6, troopers assigned to CINRET were advised by the US Department of Homeland Security that officers at the New York border performing routine inspections on international mail packages arriving from Canada had opened a package addressed to “1330 Main Street, Apartment 2 in Brockton.” Inside the package, officers located 12 tins of tea and secreted within the tins of tea were a quantity of blue pills which tested positive for suspected Fentanyl. The package was immediately seized and transferred to the custody of the US Department of Homeland Security. Yesterday, troopers assigned to the CINRET team, State Police with the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Brockton Police and members of US Homeland Security Investigations arranged a delivery of the package to the Brockton address.
Just after 3 pm, the package was delivered and Jhon E. Michel (10/20/91) answered the door, accepted the package and closed the door. Moments later, State Police observed a car parked in front of the residence and Michel exited the residence and walked toward the vehicle. At this time, State Police approached the residence and executed a search warrant. The search of the residence yielded the UPS package containing 134 Fentanyl pills and additionally, State Police located 108 Ecstasy pills, $615 in cash and drug packaging materials.
Michel is scheduled to be arraigned today in Brockton District Court on one count each of Trafficking Class A, Fentanyl and Possession of a Class B Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.
