BROCKTON – State Police Detectives are investigating after a man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a box truck last evening, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
At approximately 5:41 pm, Brockton Police received a 911 call for a report of a bicyclist struck by a box truck in the area of North Montello and Locust Streets. Brockton Police responded, along with Brockton Fire and EMS, who administered medical attention. The male victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton where he was pronounced dead of his injuries.
Brockton Police contacted State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced.
The victim has been identified as Richard K. Johnson (DOB: 05/14/65). The male driver of the box truck stopped upon impact and is not being identified.
The incident remains under investigation by State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Brockton Police, State Police C.A.R.S. Unit and Crime Scene Services.
