Man Held Without Bail For Rockland Fatal Shooting

BROCKTON – A man has been held without bail after his arraignment on a murder charge in the shooting of a Rockland man, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Rockland Police Chief Nicholas P. Zeoli have announced.

Today, Kevin Denis, 34, pleaded not guilty to one count of Murder at his arraignment in Hingham District Court. Denis was held without bail.

The charges follow an investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and Rockland Police. At approximately 9:35 p.m. on November 11, Rockland Police received a 911 call for a report of gunshots heard in the vicinity of 75 Deering Square. Rockland Police and emergency medical personnel responded and located a 29 year-old male inside of a parked motor vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to South Shore Hospital where he was pronounced dead of his injuries. He was identified as Darnel Andre of Rockland.

As part of the investigation, detectives conducted interviews, and individuals reported seeing a thin male dressed in dark clothing flee the scene. MSP enlisted the assistance of the MSP Airwing and a drone, and a ground and air search ensued.

On Friday, investigators sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Denis, and he was taken into custody in Brockton by the Plymouth County State Police Detective Unit, with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, along with Rockland Police and Brockton Police.

Denis is next scheduled to appear in court on January 9.

The case was investigated by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and Rockland Police.
