Brockton Man Pleads Guilty In Fatal Hit And Run

BROCKTON – A Brockton man who left the scene of a crash that left a woman dead has pleaded guilty, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced,

            Late yesterday, Michael Blanche, 35, plead guilty to one count each of  Leaving the Scene of an Accident After Causing Personal Injury Resulting in Death, and Operating with a Suspended License. Judge Brian Davis sentenced Blanche to serve 2 ½ years in the House of Corrections. The Commonwealth had recommended 3 to 5 years in State Prison.

            At approximately 6:16 p.m. on November 17, 2020, Brockton Police received a 911 call for a motor vehicle versus a pedestrian crash in the area of 259 Pleasant Street. Brockton Police and emergency medical personnel responded. The female victim was located unresponsive and was transported to Good Samaritan, where she was pronounced dead of her injuries. The victim was identified as 72 year-old Marie Rose Bienaime of Brockton.

            Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police detectives identified a green motor vehicle from surveillance video taken near the scene of the crash. On November 19, 2020, at approximately 10:45 a.m., Massachusetts State Police along with Brockton Police located the green motor vehicle behind an abandoned residence. As a result of the ongoing investigation, Blanche was identified as the driver, and he was placed under arrest.

            Assistant District Attorney Kevin O’Leary prosecuted the case, which was investigated by Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police.
