Brockton Man Arraigned on Murder Charge

BROCKTON – A Brockton man has been arraigned on a Murder charge in connection with fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Kian Willis (11/1/97) of Brockton was arraigned on one count of Murder in Brockton District Court. At approximately 6:25 pm on November 12, 2018, Brockton Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting in the area of Keith Avenue in Brockton. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center before being medflighted to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead of his injuries shortly before midnight. He was identified as 27 year-old Patrick Sequeira-Ferreira of Brockton.

Brockton Police contacted State Police Detectives in the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. As part of the investigation, detectives developed information that Willis was the last person to have contact with the victim by phone the night of the murder, and was seen in the area of the shooting approximately 15 minutes prior. State Police confirmed Willis and the victim were acquainted through Willis’s job at The Office of Community Corrections (OCC), where Sequeira-Ferreira was a client.

Police obtained surveillance video and cell phone records as part of their investigation into Willis’s role in the fatal shooting.

Willis pleaded not guilty at his arraignment today and is next scheduled to appear in court on January 2.

The homicide investigation is ongoing at this time by State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Brockton Police.
