Brockton Man In Police Involved Shooting Indicted

BROCKTON – The man involved in a police shooting in Brockton has been indicted, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced today.

Shortly after 6:30 pm on April 8, 2018, Brockton Police received a 911 call for a report of a man threatening to harm himself at 197 North Main Street in Brockton. Officers responded to that address and encountered a man brandishing a large knife who then advanced on and lunged at the police officers. The officers fired their weapons and the man was struck. The man was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton before being taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston for treatment of his injuries. The man has been identified as George A. Baron (DOB: 03/20/67) of Brockton.

Today, a Plymouth County Grand Jury indicted Baron on two counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Brockton Superior Court at a later date.
