BROCKTON – Tonight, State Police Detectives and Brockton Police arrested the alleged gunman involved in the fatal shooting of a Brockton man over the weekend, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
As a result of an ongoing investigation into the shooting death of 21-year-old Anthony S. Baker on Friday, at approximately 6:22 pm this evening, State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Brockton Police arrested Christopher T. Nogueira (DOB: 04/29/96) of Taunton. Nogueira will be arraigned tomorrow in Brockton District Court on one count of Murder.
Earlier today, Andrew Tymek (DOB: 03/11/97) of Brockton, pleaded not guilty to one count of Murder. Just after 6 pm on Friday, Brockton Police received multiple 911 calls for reports of a shooting on Arthur Street. Upon arrival at 10 Arthur Street, Brockton Police located Baker lying unresponsive in the street. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton where he was pronounced dead. The homicide investigation alleges that the victim and Tymek knew each other previously, and there was an ongoing feud between the men and their respective circle of acquaintances. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Baker was walking along Arthur Street at approximately 6:14 pm Friday when a dark vehicle approached him. Baker allegedly threw a rock at the windshield of the car before witnesses reported hearing four gunshots. At least one of those gun shots struck Baker, fatally wounding him. Investigators developed information that Nogueira allegedly fired the shots at Baker as Tymek drove. Police recovered a Kia Sportage and the vehicle had windshield damage consistent with a rock being thrown at it. As a result of the overall investigation, police developed probable cause to arrest and charge both men with Murder. State Police and Brockton Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Nogueira, and he was arrested on Foster Street in Brockton tonight without incident. He is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in Brockton District Court.
