BROCKTON – State Police Detectives and Brockton Police have arrested a West Bridgewater man on charges that he allegedly caused the crash that killed a man in Brockton over the weekend, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced.
At 6:30 pm tonight, State Police Detectives arrested Robert Kilday (DOB: 10/12/95) of West Bridgewater. He will be arraigned in Brockton District Court tomorrow on one count each of Motor Vehicle Manslaughter and Motor Vehicle Homicide by Operating Under the Influence and or .08 or Above and Reckless Operation. State Police arrested Kilday on charges related to the Friday evening car crash in Brockton that killed 54-year-old Jorge Leite.
At approximately 7:22 pm on Friday, Brockton Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash at 536 East Street. Brockton Police, Fire and Brewster EMS responded and found a two-vehicle crash involving a blue Ford F-150 truck driven by Kilday and a red Saturn sedan driven by Leite. Kilday was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Leite had to be extricated from his vehicle and was taken to Brockton Hospital before being transferred to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, where he succumbed to his injuries at 2:51 am Saturday morning.
Brockton Police contacted State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. As a result of that investigation, police obtained probable cause to charge Kilday, and he was placed under arrest this evening.
