BROCKTON – An Abington man has been convicted on charges that he raped a female child victim, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

After a four-day trial, a jury deliberated five hours before finding Scott McCaffrey, 56, guilty yesterday of five counts of Aggravated Rape of a Child, four counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under 14, and one count each of Dissemination of Harmful Matter to a Minor and Lewd, Wanton and Lascivious Conduct.

In January, 2020, a female victim contacted the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office to report that during 2014 and through 2015, she had been sexually assaulted on numerous occasions by McCaffrey. Abington Police conducted an investigation and a warrant issued for McCaffrey’s arrest. McCaffrey was tracked to an address in Florida where he was arrested by local police.

McCaffrey will be sentenced on June 7.

Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Beth Kusmin prosecuted the case, which was investigated by Abington Police.
