BROCKTON – An Abington man has been sentenced to serve 15-18 years in State Prison after he was convicted on charges that he raped a female juvenile, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

On May 4, 2022, a jury found Scott McCaffrey, 56, guilty of five counts of Aggravated Rape of a Child, four counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under 14, and one count each of Dissemination of Harmful Matter to a Minor and Lewd, Wanton and Lascivious Conduct.

Today, Brockton Superior Court Judge Brian Davis sentenced McCaffrey to serve 15-18 years in State Prison with five years of probation from and after. The Commonwealth had recommended that McCaffrey serve 18-20 years in State Prison.

In January, 2020, a female juvenile contacted the Plymouth County District

Attorney’s Office to report that during 2014 and through 2015, she had been sexually assaulted on numerous occasions by McCaffrey. Abington Police conducted an investigation and a warrant issued for McCaffrey’s arrest. McCaffrey was tracked to an address in Florida where he was arrested by local police.

Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Beth Kusmin prosecuted the case, which was investigated by Abington Police.
