Brockton Man Convicted As A Youthful Offender In Near-Fatal Shooting

BROCKTON – A Brockton man has been convicted as a Youthful Offender in connection with an attempted armed robbery from 2019, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Today, after a four-day trial, a jury deliberated 2.5 hours before finding Tiago Gomes-Antunes, 20, of Brockton, guilty of being a Youthful Offender on the charges of Armed Assault with Intent to Rob, Aggravated Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

On October 5, 2019, at approximately 7:43 p.m., Brockton Police received a 911 call for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, Brockton Police discovered a male victim seated in his vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center.

Brockton Police contacted Massachusetts State Police in the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. As a result, investigators placed Gomes-Antunes into custody on October 7, 2019.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 18, 2023 in Brockton Juvenile Court.

Assistant District Attorney David Cutshall prosecuted the case, which was investigated by Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police.
