BROCKTON – A Rockland woman has been indicted on charges that she was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs when she caused a fatal crash that killed an off-duty Randolph police officer, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
Today, a Plymouth County grand jury returned indictments charging Kaleigh Davidson, 35, with one count each of Manslaughter by Motor Vehicle (Alcohol), Manslaughter by Motor Vehicle (Drugs), Aggravated Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon Upon a Person Over 60.
On May 14, 2022 at approximately 6:20 a.m., they received several 911 calls reporting a two-car crash along Route 3 South in the town of Hingham. Members of the State Police and Hingham Fire Department arrived on scene and discovered a male victim in the roadway and his motor vehicle crashed and rested in the median. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene and was identified as Michael Beal, 61, of Norwell. Beal served for 35 years with the Randolph Police Department. He was a loving husband, and cherished father to eight children, and grandfather to six grandchildren.
Davidson’s vehicle was stationary in the breakdown lane of Route 3 South with heavy front-end damage to the vehicle. She was transported to South Shore Hospital with minor injuries.
Through their investigation, Massachusetts State Police determined that Davidson was speeding over 100 miles per hour and under the influence of alcohol, Suboxone, Benzodiazepines and marijuana at the time of the fatal crash.
Davidson will be arraigned on the charges in Brockton Superior Court at a later date.
