BROCKTON – A man was killed after he crashed the moped he was riding into the woods in Hanson, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
Yesterday, at approximately 1:16 p.m., Hanson Police were conducting a separate call at a residence when officers reported hearing a crash nearby. Police responded to the area of 38 Elm Street, a short distance away, and discovered a black moped crashed into the wood line of the roadway. The male operator was found unresponsive a short distance away with severe head trauma. The victim was transported to South Shore Hospital where he was pronounced dead of his injuries. He has been identified as Jozef Knop, 44.
Knop was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Hanson Police Department.
