PLYMOUTH – A man was sentenced to years in State Prison today after being convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young female victim, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
After a trial in May, a jury found Aaron Cavanagh, 58, guilty of 26 charges related to the repeated sexual assault of a child over a number of years. Today, at sentencing in Plymouth Superior Court, Judge Elaine Buckley sentenced Cavanagh to serve 45-48 years at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center. The Commonwealth recommended that Cavanagh serve Life in Prison.
In 2021, an adult female victim contacted Plymouth Police to report that Cavanagh repeatedly sexually assaulted her from 2004-2013, when she was a young child. Plymouth Police launched an investigation, and Cavanagh was indicted by a grand jury, and then arraigned on the charges in December, 2021.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Samantha Mullin and Elizabeth Mello Marvel, and was investigated by Plymouth Police.
