CARVER – Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Carver Police Chief Marc Duphily are proud to introduce Daisy, a new comfort dog who will be trained to support students and residents while bolstering the Plymouth County Comfort Dogs Program.
The Town of Carver recently acquired Daisy — a yellow Labrador Retriever from Pacheco Kennels in Raynham — and she is currently undergoing her two-week comfort dog training to prepare to work in local schools this fall. Daisy, 6-months-old, was acquired by Carver Police through the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office’s Comfort Dog Program. Daisy will be used within the Carver community to assist with stress relief, and promote wellness, whether it be for school students, seniors, town employees or anyone experiencing tough times.
“I am incredibly proud of the continued growth of the Plymouth County Comfort Dogs Program, and I look forward to welcoming more comfort dogs in the near future,” DA Cruz said. “It is a real gift to be able to help the community in this way. These dogs can play a profound role in helping our kids and changing lives.”
With Daisy, there are now 23 active comfort dogs in the Plymouth County Comfort Dogs Program.
Carver Police Chief Marc Duphily said, “We are thrilled to welcome Officer Daisy, our new comfort dog, to the Carver Police Department family. Officer Daisy, along with her partner School Resource Officer Jeremy Farquharson, will play an important role in building trust, offering comfort, and strengthening connections between our officers and the community we serve. Her presence is a reminder that public safety is not just about enforcing laws — it’s also about compassion, care, and the well-being of those we protect.”
Daisy’s handler, Carver Police Officer Jeremy Farquharson, added, “So far Daisy has been a great addition to our family and I cannot wait to introduce her to everyone at the Carver Public Schools.”
DA Cruz developed the Plymouth County Comfort Dogs Program in 2021 to provide additional services and resources to our communities. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office provides a grant to Plymouth County Police Departments to assist with costs associated with acquiring, training and caring for their comfort dog. Both the handler and the comfort dog become members of the Plymouth County Comfort Dogs Program and are required to undergo all necessary trainings in the certification process to qualify as a comfort/therapy dog.
