BROCKTON – The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office is marking National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, an important time to highlight the resilience of survivors, and continue our efforts to work tirelessly to prevent and eliminate the trafficking of humans.

In 2020, our office created the Plymouth County Human Trafficking Task Force in conjunction with Health Imperatives, to ensure that there is a network of coordinated, comprehensive services that are readily available to meet the individualized needs of all victims. Over the years we have continued this mission with our current partner, Family Community Resources. Our task force partners with services providers, law enforcement, and community organizations to conduct proactive investigations of labor and sex trafficking.

To date, our HT Task Force has 29 active, ongoing investigations throughout the county.

Outside of investigative efforts, the Plymouth County HT Task Force provides trainings to law enforcement, service providers, health care professionals and educators so that they can better spot the signs of human trafficking. The Plymouth HT Task Force has created posters, stickers, and other visual materials to be placed in hospitals and task force partner agencies to provide awareness and offer resources.

“Our office will continue to aggressively prosecute those who manipulate, abuse, and sell human beings for profit,” DA Cruz said. “At the same time, we work just as hard to provide access to trauma sensitive services to help victims recover and return to a healthy and safe life.”
