BROCKTON – A man charged in connection with a fatal shooting in a Plymouth parking lot last year was indicted today in Superior Court, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
David Jerome, 24, was indicted by a Plymouth County grand jury of Murder, Reckless Endangerment of a Child, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building, Threat to Commit a Crime, three counts of Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Weapon or Large Capacity Feeding Device. Jerome pleaded not guilty to charges related to this incident in Plymouth District Court shortly after the incident and was held without bail.
On October 25, 2024, Plymouth Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a person had been shot in the Middle Street downtown parking lot. Upon arrival, Plymouth Police located a male victim — later identified as 41-year-old Brent Berkeley — suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators determined that Berkeley and Jerome were involved in a minor traffic incident, and a physical altercation between the two ensued before the shooting occurred. Jerome’s 18-month-old son was in a car seat in the defendant’s car during the incident.
Witnesses on scene identified Jerome, who was subsequently placed under arrest by Plymouth Police.
Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Kusmin is prosecuting this case. It was investigated by Plymouth Police and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office
Jerome will be arraigned in Superior Court at a later date.
