Weymouth Man Arraigned For Vandalizing Tesla Cybertruck

HINGHAM – A Weymouth man was arraigned today in Hingham District Court after allegedly vandalizing a Tesla Cybertruck in an incident over the weekend, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Brendan Mullen, 20, is charged with one count of Malicious Destruction of Property. He pleaded not guilty to the charge during today’s arraignment, was released on personal recognizance and was ordered to stay away from the victim in this matter. The Commonwealth requested Mullen be placed on $1,000 cash bail.

On April 13, Hingham Police were dispatched to the area surrounding the intersection of North Street and Mill Street after receiving reports of intentional vandalism to a motor vehicle. The owner of the vehicle — a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck — told officers a safety feature alerted him that someone had touched his vehicle and automatically recorded the incident. At about 7:30 p.m., the Cybertruck’s surveillance captured a person “keying” the vehicle on the passenger side Through further investigation, law enforcement identified Mullen as the man captured on surveillance footage and requested he come to the Hingham Police Department to discuss the incident. Mullen met with Hingham Police on Tuesday and was subsequently arrested.

Mullen is next scheduled to appear in court on May 16.
