HINGHAM – A New Jersey woman pleaded not guilty Friday to charges she stole over $10,000 worth of beauty products combined from stores in Hingham and Hanover, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
Late Friday, Ana Lucia Pacheco, 20, pleaded not guilty in Hingham District Court in two separate criminal cases. She is charged with one count each of Organized Retail Crime, Conspiracy and Larceny over $1,200 in both cases, and was held on $15,000 bail in both cases: amounting to a total bail of $30,000. Pacheco was also ordered to stay away from all Sephora locations in Hingham and Hanover as a condition of bail. The Commonwealth had requested bail be set at $250,000 in both of Pacheco’s criminal cases.
In October 2024, Hanover Police were contacted by a loss prevention officer assigned to national retailer Sephora. The loss prevention officer reported to police that a female suspect who appeared in store surveillance footage shoplifting at Sephora locations in Hingham and Hanover on October 15, had been arrested for shoplifting from a Sephora in Pennsylvania. The surveillance footage showed Pacheco working in concert with other suspects, taking merchandise from both Massachusetts locations.
Investigators determined $6,850 worth of merchandise was stolen from the Hingham Sephora while $5,097 worth of merchandise was stolen from the Hanover location, totaling $11,947 in stolen merchandise.
Hanover Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Information Network, and an investigation commenced. As a result of the investigation, detectives developed probable cause and sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Pacheco. She was taken into custody in Pennsylvania by Massachusetts State Police and returned to the Commonwealth last Friday to face charges.
Pacheco is next scheduled to appear in court on February 21 for a probable cause hearing.
