PLYMOUTH – State Police and Plymouth Police are investigating the apparent murder of a 76-year-old woman found stabbed to death in her Plymouth apartment on Friday.

At approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, Plymouth Police were called to the apartments at 7 Tideview Path in Plymouth for a well-being check when 76-year-old Vibeke Rasmussen did not appear for work Friday. When there was no response at the door of apartment #6, Plymouth Police gained entrance and found Rasmussen dead and with obvious trauma to her body.

Plymouth Police immediately contacted State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. At approximately 11 p.m. on Thursday night, neighbors interviewed stated that they heard a female screaming in the vicinity of Rasmussen’s apartment.

Through interviews on scene in Plymouth, State Police and Plymouth Police determined the suspect in the homicide to be 24-year-old Tyler Hagmaier. State Police issued a bulletin for Hagmaier and his silver Prius.

Police contacted Hagmaier’s family in Western Massachusetts and responded to the area. At approximately 10 p.m. Friday night, Hagmaier’s silver Prius was found parked alongside the French King Bridge in Gill. Witnesses at the bridge indicated they heard a splash in the water at approximately 10 p.m.

State Police and search teams searched the Connecticut River today but no body was found. The water search will resume tomorrow.

This was not a random act of violence and anyone with any information should contact detectives with the Plymouth Police Department at (508) 830-4218.

The investigation, which is being conducted by State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Plymouth Police, is ongoing.
