Whitman Man Sent to State Prison for Sexual Assault of Child Under 14

BROCKTON – A Whitman man has pleaded guilty to charges that he sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Scott M. Hebert (DOB: 03/15/78) of Whitman, was scheduled to go to trial on Monday, charged with two counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person Under the Age of 14. Late Thursday, Hebert pleaded guilty to the charges. Brockton Superior Court Judge Brian Davis sentenced Hebert to serve three to four years in State Prison, to be followed by five years of Probation. Hebert must also register as a sex offender, get treatment and stay away and have no contact with the victim.

On May 17, 2014, the victim reported to family members that Hebert sexually assaulted her and Whitman Police were contacted. After an investigation, Whitman Police arrested Hebert on the charges on May 21, 2014.

Assistant District Attorney Jessica Kenny prosecuted the case, which was investigated by Whitman Police Department.
