BROCKTON – A West Bridgewater man has been indicted on charges that he allegedly caused the crash that killed a man in Brockton, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz
A Plymouth County Grand Jury today returned indictments against Robert Kilday (DOB: 10/12/95) of West Bridgewater, on one count each of Motor Vehicle Manslaughter and Motor Vehicle Homicide by Operating Under the Influence and or .08 or Above and Reckless Operation.
At approximately 7:22 pm on June 15, 2018, Brockton Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash at 536 East Street. Brockton Police, Fire and Brewster EMS responded and found a two-vehicle crash involving a blue Ford F-150 truck driven by Kilday and a red Saturn sedan driven by 54-year-old Jorge Leite. Kilday was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Leite had to be extricated from his vehicle and was taken to Brockton Hospital before being transferred to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, where he succumbed to his injuries.
A crash investigation by State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Brockton Police found and today’s indictments allege that Kilday was operating under the influence of narcotics and alcohol and driving recklessly at the time of the collision.
Kilday will be arraigned on the charges in Superior Court at a later date.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brian Fahy and was investigated by State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Brockton Police.
