BROCKTON – A Brockton man was convicted today in Brockton Superior Court of charges stemming from the continued victimization of a child victim, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
Following a four-day bench trial, Joseph A. Martinez, 42, was found guilty of Attempted Indecent A&B over 14, Attempted Indecent A&B under 14, Attempted Rape of a child, Incest, and Reckless Endangerment of a Child. He will be sentenced on the charges at a later date.
Between June and September 2019, while Martinez was in Massachusetts Department of Corrections custody, he victimized a child over the phone by instructing them to perform lude acts and threatened them verbally.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Schmidt and was investigated by the Brockton Police Department and the Massachusetts Department of Corrections.
