BROCKTON – An East Bridgewater man has been sentenced to serve time in State Prison after a jury convicted him on child rape charges, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

After a trial in Brockton Superior Court, a jury deliberated five hours before finding Kyle Spencer (DOB: 03/11/94), guilty on January 12, 2018, of three counts each of Rape of a Child by Force and Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under 14 Years of Age. Today, Brockton Superior Court Judge Mark Gildea sentenced Spencer to serve 2 ½ to 3 ½ years in State Prison, to be followed by probation for three years. Spencer was also ordered to stay away and have no contact with the victim, undergo a mental health evaluation, register as a sex offender and wear a GPS monitoring bracelet.

In June, 2014, East Bridgewater Police were contacted by school officials about a sexual assault allegation made against Spencer, by a female, juvenile victim. East Bridgewater Police and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Family Protection Unit conducted interviews with the victim, who reported that from 2007 until 2009 on numerous occasions, Spencer, who is a cousin to the victim, sexually assaulted her.

Assistant District Attorney Alexander Zane prosecuted the case, which was investigated by East Bridgewater Police Department.
