Pair Indicted In Brockton Shooting

BROCKTON – Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced that a Plymouth County Grand Jury retuned indictments today against two men for their roles in the January shooting death of a Brockton man.

A Plymouth County Grand Jury today returned indictments against Antonio Pedro Fontes (DOB: 6/27/82) of Brockton, for Murder, Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Discharge of a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building. The Grand Jury also returned indictments against Jose Oliveira (DOB: 3/11/81) of Brockton, for Accessory After the Fact to Murder, Possession of a Firearm, and Accessory After the Fact to Possession of a Firearm.
At approximately 2:02 am on January 13, 2018, Brockton Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting outside Dylan’s Pub and Grille, located at 789 Centre Street in Brockton. Brockton Police and emergency medical personnel responded and located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Lifesaving efforts were initiated and the victim was transported to Brockton Hospital where he pronounced dead. The victim was identified as David J. Carroll (DOB: 06/16/75) of Brockton.
Brockton Police contacted State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. State Police and Brockton Police reviewed surveillance video and interviewed multiple witnesses who reported that an altercation occurred in the parking lot of Dylan’s Pub and Grille prior to the shooting. Further investigation led to the identification of Fontes and Oliveira as the parties involved.
An arrest warrant has issued for Fontes. Oliveira will be summonsed for arraignment on the indictments at a later date.
The case was investigated by State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Brockton Police.
