BROCKTON – State Police Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the operator of a dump truck that is believed to have been involved in a fatal crash in Wareham, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

At approximately 4:45 a.m. this morning, State Police received several 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash on Route 195 eastbound in Wareham, just prior to the Route 28 exit. State Police and Wareham EMS and Fire responded to the scene and located a black Nissan Titan pickup truck with heavy front end damage. The front seat passenger, a 48 year-old man, was determined to be dead on scene. The male operator of the car was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham for treatment of his injuries. The victims involved are not being identified at this time.

Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, and Crime Scene Services Sections are actively investigating the fatal crash. Preliminarily, investigators have determined that a large construction dump truck was the second vehicle involved in the crash, and left the area moments after the crash. The dump truck has a gray body and steel tailgate, and is likely to have sustained damage to the driver side rear of the vehicle.

Anyone with any information is urged to call State Police Detectives in the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office at 508-894-2600 or the State Police Bourne Barracks at 508-759-4488.
