Brockton Man Indicted on Murder Charge in Connection with 2018 Fatal Stabbing

BROCKTON – A Brockton man has been charged with murder in the 2018 shooting death of a city man, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Today, a Plymouth County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Samuel Mathieu, 24, of Brockton, with one count each of Murder, Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling.

On Saturday, April 7, 2018, at approximately 10:05 pm, Brockton Police received multiple 911 calls regarding shots fired on Woodlawn Avenue in Brockton.

Responding officers found a vehicle which had struck a tree and damage consistent with being involved in a shooting. A male shooting victim was located in the car and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead of his injuries. He was identified as Kelby A. Ramos (11/1/93) of Brockton.

Brockton Police contacted Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. As a result, investigators developed probable cause to charge Mathieu with Murder.

Mathieu is currently held on federal charges in Boston. He will be arraigned on the charges in Brockton Superior Court at a later date.
