BROCKTON – A Brockton man has been indicted on charges that he set three separate motor vehicle fires, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

On January 22, 2021, a Plymouth County grand jury returned indictments charging Obieze Bobby Uchendu, 38, with three counts of Burning a Motor Vehicle and one count of Burning of a Dwelling.

The indictments follow a joint investigation by members of the Brockton Fire Department and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Office of State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey. The investigation found that between October 4, 2020 and October 8, 2020, three separate motor vehicle fires were reported in Brockton within close proximity of one another. Investigators determined that these fires were all intentionally set and obtained evidence that placed Uchendu at the scene of all three fires. Uchendu was placed under arrest on October 15, 2020.

Uchendu will be arraigned on the grand jury indictments in Brockton Superior Court at a later date.
