Massachusetts State Police, Brockton Police Investigating Death Of Brockton Woman

BROCKTON – Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police are investigating after a 48 year-old woman was killed in her driveway this afternoon, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

At approximately 1:02 p.m. today, Brockton Police received a 911 call for a report of a woman bleeding in the driveway at 342 Crescent Street in Brockton. Upon arrival, Brockton Police and emergency medical personnel located the female victim on the ground with obvious trauma to the head. The victim was

pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Veronica Goncalves.  

Brockton Police contacted Massachusetts State Police assigned to the

Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and an investigation commenced.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Search warrants are being sought, and interviews and canvasses are being conducted. Preliminarily, this appears to have been a targeted attack and not a random act of violence.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner accepted jurisdiction of the case and will determine the cause and manner of death.
