BROCKTON – A Duxbury woman has been indicted on charges that she murdered her three children, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
Today, a Plymouth County grand jury handed down indictments charging Lindsay Clancy, 33, with three counts each of Murder and Strangulation. Clancy is currently held without bail and being treated in a medical facility.
At approximately 6:11 p.m. on January 24, 2023, Duxbury Police received a 911 call for a report of a suspected attempted suicide of a female resident who had jumped from a window at a home at 47 Summer Street.
Upon arrival, Duxbury Police and first responders located the woman, Lindsay Clancy, and she was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
First responders subsequently located three children in the basement under the ages of five, unconscious and with obvious signs of severe trauma.
A 5 year-old girl and a 3 year-old boy were transported to Beth Israel Deaconness Hospital in Plymouth where they were pronounced deceased. They were identified as Cora Clancy and Dawson Clancy.
Eight-month Callan Clancy was medflighted to Boston Children’s hospital where he was treated for several days before he passed away.
Duxbury Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit in the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced.
As a result of information gathered during the ongoing investigation, detectives developed probable cause, obtained an arrest warrant for Lindsay Clancy and she was taken into custody.
The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner took jurisdiction of the deaths and determined that the cause of death to Cora and Dawson Clancy was asphyxia, and the cause of death to Callan Clancy was complication of asphyxia.
Clancy is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in Plymouth Superior Court at a later date.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jennifer Sprague and Amanda Fowle, and was investigated by Massachusetts State Police and Duxbury Police.
