MSP Investigating Fatal Crash That Killed MassDOT Worker

BROCKTON – Massachusetts State Police continue to investigate after a fatal crash on Route 24 in West Bridgewater killed a MassDOT worker, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced. 

At approximately 9:30 p.m. last night, a motor vehicle struck a MassDOT worker who was picking up debris outside of their vehicle near Exit 28B (Route 106) on Route 24 northbound. The worker sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased on scene. He has been identified as 57 year-old old David Sousa.

Massachusetts State Police personnel responded to the scene from Troop D, along with the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, the MSP Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section (CARS), and the Crime Scene Services Section. The investigation is ongoing at this time. 

The motorist that struck the worker remained on scene. 

The crash forced the closure of all northbound lanes on Route 24 from approximately 10:30 until 1:20 a.m., when the scene investigation concluded.
