MSP Continue To Investigate Fatal Boat Crash In Hull

BROCKTON – Massachusetts State Police, Hull Police, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Massachusetts Environmental Police are continuing their investigation into a weekend boat crash that left one man dead, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

            At approximately noon on Saturday, members of the State Police Marine Unit and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to investigate a capsized boat off of Nantasket Beach. Troopers patrolling the beach along with Hull Police and Fire arrived on scene and located one unresponsive man in the water. The victim was brought aboard a Coast Guard vessel and transported to Coast Guard Station Point Allerton, where he was pronounced deceased. He has been identified as 56 year-old Michael LaRhette of Hingham.

The State Police and the Coast Guard investigated at the scene until they determined no other individuals or vessels were missing in connection with this incident. 

Hull Police contacted the State Police Plymouth County Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth Country District Attorney’s Office, and an investigation commenced. The investigation is active and ongoing.

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner accepted jurisdiction of the case and will determine manner and cause of death.
