BROCKTON – A Brockton man has sentenced to life in prison for his role in the shooting
of a city man, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced today.

After a seven-day trial, a Plymouth County jury deliberated three days before finding
Dominic Tassy (DOB: 07/25/84) guilty of Second Degree Murder and Intimidation of a Witness
charges. Brockton Superior Court Judge Richard Chin sentenced Tassy to serve Life in Prison for a
minimum of 15 years before he is parole eligible. The Commonwealth had recommended that Tassy
serve Life in Prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years, and 8-10 years to run concurrent
with the life sentence. Tassy had been indicted on a charge of Murder in the First Degree. The jury
found him not guilty of two counts of Armed Assault with Intent to Rob, Unlawful Possession of a
Sawed-off Shotgun, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition without an FID card and Assault by Means
of a Dangerous Weapon.

At approximately 5:19 pm on August 10, 2012, Brockton Police responded to 63 Perkins
Street for a report of a man shot. Upon arrival, they found the victim, 36-year-old Lonnie Robinson,
slumped in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in the driveway at 63 Perkins Street with an apparent
gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a Brockton Hospital where he was pronounced
dead a short time later.

The State Police investigation revealed that while the victim, Mr. Robinson, and another man
sat parked in a Chevy Impala in the driveway, Tassy and Jerome Almonor (DOB: 09/12/87) pulled
into the driveway behind them. Almonor and Tassy exited the vehicle and entered the apartment
building at 63 Perkins Street. They were seen a short time later exiting the building where Almonor,
armed with a shotgun, approached the driver’s side door of the Chevy Impala. A verbal altercation
ensued, which resulted in Almonor removing a shotgun from his pants and shooting Mr. Robinson in
the chest while he was seated in the car. A witness later told police that Tassy complained that
Almonor was taking too long to shoot the victim. Tassy was arrested that day by police.

Almonor will go to trial later in the year on charges in the case.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jessica Kenny and Nathaniel
Kennedy and was investigated by State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District
Attorney’s Office and Brockton Police.
