BROCKTON – A Mattapan man was arraigned today in Brockton District Court following a fatal domestic violence incident that occurred Monday evening in Brockton, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Reynald Biamby, 44, is charged with one count of Murder. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was held without bail.

At 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, Brockton Police received a 911 call to respond to 341 Centre Street.  Upon arrival, Brockton Police and emergency personnel located the body of a deceased woman, later identified as 36-year-old Rose Lacroix of Mattapan. Investigators found Biamby with injuries, and he was transported to a hospital in Boston for treatment.

Brockton Police contacted Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. Biamby was interviewed by law enforcement at the hospital, and told officers he and the victim were engaged in a verbal argument which escalated when he was stabbed with a knife. Biamby added that he and the victim struggled over control of the knife before he ultimately used it to fatally stab the victim in the neck. The defendant stated he did not attempt to leave the situation once he gained control of the knife.

As a result of the investigation, detectives sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Biamby. He was taken into custody after his release from the hospital.

Biamby is scheduled to appear in court on August 5 for a probable cause hearing.
