HINGHAM – A man charged with child rape has been found dangerous, and is being held without bail, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
After an hour-long hearing today in Hingham District Court, Cory B. Alvarez, 26, was found to be dangerous by Judge Heather Bradley and was held without bail. Alvarez pleaded not guilty in Hingham District Court to one count each of Aggravated Rape of a Child with 10 Year Age Difference and Rape of a Child by Force.
The charge stems from an investigation by Rockland Police. At approximately 7:06 p.m. on March 13, 2024, Rockland Police were dispatched to the Comfort Inn at 850 Hingham Street for a report of a sexual assault. The Comfort Inn is currently part of a state/federal program to house migrant families. Alvarez resided at that address.
Upon arrival, Rockland Police encountered the 15 year-old female victim, who was then transported to South Shore Hospital for treatment. As a result of their investigation, Rockland Police developed probable cause to arrest Alvarez, and he was taken into custody.
On March 14, Alvarez was arraigned on one count of Aggravated Rape of a Child. The Commonwealth moved for the dangerousness hearing, held today, where Alvarez was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of Rape of a Child by Force.
Alvarez is next scheduled to appear in court on April 22.
