Arrest Made in Murder of West Bridgewater Woman

BROCKTON – State Police overnight arrested a man wanted for the Murder of a
woman in West Bridgewater, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and
West Bridgewater Police Chief Victor Flaherty have announced.

Just before 6 pm Sunday, West Bridgewater Police received information that an
elderly female had been murdered. The information they received led them to 93
Columbus Avenue. Upon arrival at that address, police located a 72-year-old female with
obvious signs of trauma. She was pronounced dead on scene by emergency medical
personnel. West Bridgewater Police contacted State Police Detectives assigned to the
Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. Through
their investigation, State Police and West Bridgewater Police obtained a search warrant
for the home at 93 Columbus Avenue and warrants were issued for the arrest of the sole
suspect in the case, Danny J. Lopes, Jr. Overnight, State Police sought and obtained an
arrest warrant for Danny J. Lopes, Jr. (DOB: 5/10/83) of 93 Columbus Avenue and a
BOLO alert issued for Lopes and the vehicle he was said to be using vehicle. The
investigation led State Police and West Bridgewater Police to North Providence, RI.
Danny Lopes was arrested early this morning in North Providence. Lopes is currently
being held in Rhode Island as a fugitive from justice.

The murder investigation is active and ongoing at this time by State Police
Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and West
Bridgewater Police.

District Attorney Cruz and Chief Flaherty will update the media on the
homicide at an 11 am news conference at West Bridgewater Police Department.
