BROCKTON- A Kingston man and former martial arts instructor was found guilty today of raping one of his former students multiple times over five years, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced today.

After a four-day trial, a jury deliberated a total of eight hours in Plymouth Superior Court before finding Colin Dahlen (DOB: 12/2/56) guilty today of one count of Rape of a Child with Force and two counts of Rape.

On September 10, 2014, an adult female victim reported to Kingston Police that she had been sexually assaulted by Dahlen when she was 11-years-old and Kingston Police initiated an investigation.  Dahlen, a martial arts instructor, operated two studios, one out of his home in Kingston and another in Hanover.  At trial, jurors heard that the investigation found that on diverse dates between 1987-1992 while the female victim was between the ages of 11 and 16 and a martial arts student, Dahlen sexually assaulted her while acting as her instructor.

Dahlen was taken into custody today after the verdict was read and is scheduled to be sentenced on the charges on May 30.

Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Beth Kusmin prosecuted the case, which was investigated by Kingston Police.
