HINGHAM – A Norwell man is being held without bail after his arraignment on charges that he allegedly raped a female juvenile victim that he met online, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Norwell Police Chief Ted Ross announced today.
Luke Callahan (DOB: 07/20/97) of Norwell, was arraigned today in Hingham District Court on one count each of Statutory Rape and Enticement for Sex From a Child Under 16.
The charges follow an investigation which began in late November after the Child Advocacy Center of the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office was contacted about the rape of a juvenile female. Through the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Callahan had an ongoing and sexually explicit conversation with the underage female victim online before they met in person. The victim further disclosed that Callahan allegedly sexually assaulted the victim on one occasion in Norwell. Norwell Police investigated and arrested Callahan Thursday night.
Callahan pleaded not guilty at his arraignment today in Hingham District Court, and was held without bail pending the outcome of a dangerousness hearing, scheduled to be held on Tuesday in Hingham.
The investigation is ongoing by Norwell Police and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
