Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has been voted in as president of the Massachusetts District Attorney’s Association (MDAA).
At their monthly meeting held today, members of the MDAA unanimously voted in DA Cruz as president, and Hampden County District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni as vice president.
“I am proud that my fellow District Attorneys have elected me to be president of the MDAA,” DA Cruz said. “As District Attorneys, all 11 of us operate our offices with the highest standards of fairness and integrity to our communities. I look forward to continuing to work together to share ideas, implement best practices, and protect public safety throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”
MDAA is an independent state agency whose mission is to support the 11 elected Massachusetts District Attorneys and their staff, including approximately 785 prosecutors and 260 victim witness advocates.
Plymouth County District Attorney since 2001, DA Cruz is the most senior member of MDAA, and has served as its president three times before, in 2005, in 2010, and in 2018. Currently, DA Cruz serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the National District Attorneys Association. DA Cruz additionally serves as a co-chair on the Prevention Subcommittee of the Governor’s Council to Address Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, an appointment made by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker.
DA Cruz succeeds Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III, who was MDAA’s past president.
