BROCKTON – A brother and sister have been convicted on charges that they set fire to an occupied Brockton home, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
After a 10-day trial in Brockton Superior Court, a jury found Jonathan Jironvil, 26, of Worcester guilty of three counts each of Attempted Murder, Malicious Destruction of Property and Witness Intimidation. His sister, Lucnalie Jironvil, 27, of Amherst, was convicted of three counts of Attempted Murder, and one count each of Arson and Malicious Destruction of Property. Sentencing will occur on Thursday, June 22, 2023, in Brockton Superior Court.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on July 18, 2019, Brockton Fire received several 911 calls for a report of a structure fire in a home at 66 Sinclair Road in Brockton. Upon arrival, Brockton Fire officials found the home completely consumed in flames and immediately commenced fire suppression operations. Flames covered the front, back and right side of the building and the fire extended into the attic and crawl space. The home was destroyed, and a neighboring home suffered damage as a result of the fire. Three women in the home at the time that the fire started were able to escape the flames safely.
Brockton Police and Brockton Fire contacted Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Office of State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey and a joint investigation commenced. Investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set by Jonathan and Lucnalie Jironvil, who previously lived at the Sinclair Road home, and they were placed under arrest.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Alexander Zane.
